The final module of my first year, entitled 'The Magpie Project/White Project', was a far more creative and bespoke project. We were required to produce a sketchbook containing research compiled from three cultural influences of which mine were Otis Redding, Brazil (1975 film) and Modern Sculpture (Tara Donovan). The final outcome was a white, sculptural piece and lookbook fitting with the theme of my initial research.
The second brief was commercial based, creating a dress to fit within Roland Mouret's brand as well as developing a trend from a conceptual video ('A Man Called Bones'). The project requirements were a market report into 3 designers and their competitors, a sketchbook of relevant research and designs, a toile, and the finished commercial dress.
The first module of my first year at University was 'The Shirt Project' whereby we were required to produce a toile of a classic shirt, develop a research board about the anatomy of the shirt, a trend board, produce designs and draft my own pattern to construct my final garment out of cotton.
